| Turning off-truck engines in traffic there's many sources out there that talk about turning of engines when u are at truck stops to lessen emissions/idling, but what about when you are stuck in traffic? I've heard from some that there's a difficulty in restarting the truck sometimes.. which causes more of a problem than the idling itself So what do u guys think about turning off-truck engines when waiting for a long time in traffic? |

| Yeah if you know the road is gonna be closed for a long time and its not too hot or cold I would. How ever if its stop and go then no I'm not shutting it off only to restart it in a minute or so. Truck starters are not that cheap.

| Don't know for sure, but I'll bet you use more fuel in starting the thing than you would in idleing for a few minutes. IF it is only a few minutes. What gets to me is seeing the local P & D guys leaving their trucks running at their stops. Here is a truck sitting there with the engine running the window down and the driver no where in sight. This truck is just screaming "STEAL ME!" |
