| I like it. Most that are OTR drivers always seem to come back to it sooner or later. It is like anything. Things get old after awhile, but there is something about that next load and being on the move that seems to get in your blood.

With that said, I have a deep hatred for most trucking companies and the people who run them. Why we keep doing it? I can't answer that one. I've quit, come back, quit, come back again. I do like the money though We love the self torture I guess.

| Danc694me caused a thought which has been floating around in the back of my head for a while to actually crystalize into a recognizable structure. What's the technical term for trucker? Masochist

Dang, Lurch,................. now you got ME thinkin'. Well,.......... Big truck truckin' is considered a "lifestyle" ---------- so, ......................... I'm thinkin' A "trucker" is an experienced frame of mind. Just for the record, here's how I rate folks who drive Big trucks; 7. NewBees 6. TrainEss 5. RookEss 4. Experienced 3. Seasoned 2. Well Seasoned 1. & TOP -->Trucker I left out Steering Wheel Holders. IMO, they don't rate at all. ![]() And to answer SnoreLord's question, if I may, ......... I'm not currently on the road or over it either, but I've collected over a million mile markers driving a Big truck. Like everything, it has it's ups and downs, but, for me, there were FAR more ups than downs. If I had a choice to be here typing posts on the internet or driving OTR, y'all wouldn't be readin' as much of me. ![]()

| Love it. Certainly, I have a fear of real work that makes me uniquely suited to this job. More often than not I would say I was born to do this. It is in my DNA. Of course, for the last 6 years I have worked for a company that I like, pays attention to my home time, plays to my strengths, forgives my weaknesses, and pays me an honest rate. If you can find a company that treats you like that, I think you can shovel bull patties and be more or less content. |
