Ha, I thought NY was bad that one time we were face to face with a 12' 8" bridge that our routing told us to go. Turns out... its not really that small, as we were sitting there staring at it on the side of the road another big rig went right on under and didn't even tap the brakes.

That was fun, but in Chicago, they are NOT kidding, thought maybe it was like NY but you pull up close and your bigger then the bridge... that was a fun 15 mile ride trying to find another way back to the interstate. My hubby can't rememeber routes to save his life. Sure he can tell you how to get from Dallas to Scranton without looking at the map, but once there he can't find his way back to the interstate from the consignee without help. I can remember a route once ive done it once fairly well.

That was the like 5th time he turned the wrong way and we ended up lost in some big city... and he has more expierence!

There is an underpass on Ogden Ave. south of Roosevelt Rd with three lanes and marked as follows: Left Lane 13'0" Center Lane 13'6" Right Lane 12'10" and the road surface is in pretty bad shape so everybody is driving slowly not only because of the clearance but because of the immaculate maintenance as well.

Ain't Chicago fun? I missed my exit near the 90/94 split this morning headed EB. Had to go all the way past the toll bridge to get turned around. Then I had to come all the way back to 55 SB and was hesitant to use any exit near the city. Finally seen Damen Ave I think it was, and I could hear the angels singing for me there as I exited and made a sort of u turn to get back NB and back to 94. Don't know how I missed the exit the first time.

Waiting for rush hour to pass and then I'm headed WB far, far away from Chicago. Nice to visit but will be glad to see it in my mirrors after running around here the last couple days.

Goodbye Chicago, hope I don't have to see you again for a while. Every time I come here, I start running low on pepcid.

Trust what these guys are telling you. There is NO city that has as many low viaducts as Chicago. In my experience, Philly - not NYC - is the next worst.

They have a 45 page pdf listing them all but can't find it in map form. Saving a copy of this though.

USE THIS ONE FOLKS. It's actually the City of Chicago dispatch office for their city trucks. I've used it twice (don't do Chicago anymore) and they WILL get you where you're going by the shortest and safest route possible. You may have to wait once in a while as they talk to their trucks, but it's worth the time. You don't have to shuffle a map around as they will guide you where you want to go. It's a great resource if you're unfamiliar with the city.

Has anyone used the numbers recently? I have tried them both and never got through to a live person.
