Anybody heard of an outfit called Western Transport

I'm going hijack this thread for a second and then start a new one later, but since I believe Brinkman is in Wy maybe he can help. They are a flatbedding / chip hauling company based in Sheridan, WY. They run mostly 11 western states. They have about 50 tractors 2005 - 2007 Kenworths W900 mid sleepers. They have offered a flatbedding position that pays 22% of the load, plus tarping and multistop pay. They claim that you can get all the miles you want 3,000 3,500 a week. Is 22% a fair %? They claim that their drivers earn $1,000 to $1,300 week regularly. They do business under Craig Scheckla, LLC.
Anybody have any input? Thanks in advance.

I've heard the Craig Scheckla name, and seen their trucks. But haven't heard any thing about them. Yay or nay.

% pay is relevant. 22% of say 5 a mile is pretty good wage. 22% of 1.5 per mile isn't nearly as good. Ask them what their drivers are getting for that 3000 miles a week. $1000 a week is a livable wage. $1300 a week is pretty good for an OTR driver.

Yeah, I kinda like not having an 0300 drop at the Airfrieght lot. I really thought I was going to whine alot about doing flatbed, but I realized today that when I get to a shipper/consignee, I just do what I gotta do and don't even think twice about it. I picked up at Johns Manville in Joliet the other day, after hours. Myself and another driver from my company both had pre-loaded trailers to pick up. We hooked up and backed into the docks to strap and wait for the forklift to tarp (they don't allow you on the load at any time and have a nifty little bar that you hook your tarp to and the forklift drags it over, all ya gotta do is bungee) and he starts complaining......I said (and this has got to be the dumbest thing I ever said but it made sense) "You just gotta do it to it and stop whining." I told him the entire time he was whining, I had all but one of my straps secured (15 of them) and had my tarps behind my truck on the dock waiting for the forklift.

Speaking of lady Flatbedders, I saw a Pink and White 379 PeteEXH pulling a Covered Wagon with PINK TARPS! She rolled past me in Iowa and she was FINE!

When I am sitting somewhere eating or whatever, I usually get asked "Are you a Driver?" My standard reply is "No, I am a flatbedder, driving the truck is about 20% of the work I do....." and no, I don't do it for the money...although the money is nice.

Be safe out there, and to new guys, I learned valuable lessons these last few months....listen to the older guys and accept their help. Also, try not to let your tarp make you the filling in a Burrito on a windy Day....that really sucks..lol!

I should mention that after 6 months with them it goes to 25% I'll have to ask them if the FSC is built into their rates or if it is an add on to the basic rate.
