.....or are there a lot less trucks on the road than when I started two years ago? When I started, I could never find a parking space after 9:00. Now, I just drive in and park.

Maybe I'm getting better at parking but I doubt it? I don't think that has much to do with the 15 empty spaces at a Flying J at 9:30 pm?

I think it has to do with the economy my husband just told me last night that alot of guys he talked to are quiting not going to drive truck any more. So there might be less trucks on the road and more parking spaces

I remember being able to find more parking on Friday and Saturday nights when I was OTR. Are you talking about every night though?

I'm personally inclined to think that evolution is taking place - drivers were finding it hard to find a place to park between 19:00 and 23:30 - so they changed their diving habits - now stops ALWAYS have a buch of trucks parked, and a bunch of slots open.

Well, ok,that's a bit of an exaggeration, but you get where I'm going

To answer everybody....I find it easy to park all the time everywhere but the northeast. That's because the NE flat sucks and doesn't have enough spots ,not to mention stupid laws and overagressive law-enforcement. I don't go to the west coast either. Maybe I'm better at picking truckstops?

Where I go, there seem to be as many during the week, but less on the weekends. I don't normally park with cargo because live birds don't take much sitting to get too hot, If I get canceled before loading, I will try to find a place to park, it's never difficult on Saturday or Sunday nights.

It's a sad day for me when every single time I walk into a stop, sit in the drivers lounge and hear an O/O talking about this his last trip. And it's never because of old age and retirement, it's because of the fuel prices and the insurance. Then he says that's he's found a company job making $25.00 an hour.
Just maybe this is one of the reason that you find a spot more often?
