| NYC heights i just finished CDl training in NY. All Unmarked bridges are considered 14ft or higher and all bridges are set a foot higher then the posted. This takes into consideration the snow and other factors. Also All Over passes on Thruways in New York are also 14 ft or higher and bridges area 80,000 lbs or more. |

| Question: Do the truck driving GPS systems know this? Ex. If I had to make a delivery at JFK or LGA airports, would they know which routes to route on so a ticket couldn't be issued? Hunter

| Long time NY'er here, I used to read about the Hutch and it's insatiable appitite for truck roofs at LEAST once a month. Also there were some low clearance train bridges between New Rochelle and Rye too. Although to be honest, pinheaded local governments are doing their damnedest to get rid of every job in lower westchester that does not involve pouring coffee for someone. Frankly The Hutch is an absolute NO-GO for trucks. If you're coming South on 684 and do not get off at 287 you will very likely get a ticket becuae the cops love to sit there and write speeding tickets for 4 wheelers all day. You MUST get off at Harrison Ave. because YOU WILL NOT CLEAR ANYTHING ELSE, NOT EVEN HARRISON AVE. Even if you squeek by, and don't get pulled over, or reported, you really really really, must get off at Mamaroneck AVE. but your truck will probably not make the button hook ramp on the south side exit. Okay you're REALLY tempting fate, you've now passed Mamaroneck AVE. Harrison Ave. 287 and the sleeping ticket writer. LAST CHANCE and you will hate it. Mamaroneck ROAD. (or Old Mamaroneck Road) you get off here, you will stand out like a Nun in Vegas, because this is a tight residential street and you will probably hit every tree limb in the canopy because they don't get tall trucks up there much (except for the occasional moving van). But if you don't get off,,, DUCK. Because that sub-10 foot clearance bridge you're about to hit is gonna leave a mark. And not just on your DAC. |

| I am always amused by drivers who " tore that page out". New York is easier to get around in than Chicago anyday. Like any major city, using a map and making a phone call or two will save a driver alot of grief. |
