Man I know that feeling, Thought I was the only that had those kind of expiriences.:biggrin_25526:

I was headed west on the BQE one Friday evening around 7pm headed towards the GW, traffic was heavy as usual (sp) I got stuck in the left lane where it splits off to the Williamsburg Br. (10' clearance), I stopped just before the bridge not caring that traffic was backing up behind me, About 15 min. later, as I was slowley trying to inch backwards An unmarked Police car pulls up to me and tells me to stay put. He radioed for back up and they routed traffic around me got me backed up (Im thinking man am I in trouble) they escorted me back to where I needed to be and I was on my way. Talk about heart pounding and white knuckles, and thats after I was familiar with the area.

Cool. I'll take the whole northeast, thank-you. Short runs, pays well.

Go in hella early and leave as soon as possible, be prepared to go onto corners of side walks make sure spotter if possible so they can remove or put further away garbage cans and lil ole ladys , also keep door padlocked until hit the dock, or freight will majicaly disappear from your trailer quickly other than that its an experience youll never forget LMAO! Watch overpass cleances as the signs unless updated are seriously lower than posted because of retaring the interstates and other roads. :biggrin_2556:

Why is it that whenever im in NYC, the only things where clearances are even marked are stuff thats way too low for my truck to fit under? I mean, back when i drove a 13'6 van. Anything that was borderline had no signs at all. So annoying! I went to Old Williamsburg Candle Factory and the Navy Industrial Park a few times. Ah, those are experiences.

I hit my mirror on a double parked truck once..rofl. ThUMP!

I liked the east coast in general. I never went to new england much but went a few times. New Hampshire was very pretty but the docks sucked. One of the easiest docks i ever backed into was in NYC. Old williamsburg candle factory, they had an actual real dock, and because of the sidewalk, plenty of room in front of it. i got it onto their property in one shot, a couple pull ups got me into the dock door...

And NYC on a windy day where the women dress to impress!
Can anyone say Marilyn Monroe photo op?
Oh some of the stories I could tell!
The 6 at Grand Central during rush hour!
The garment section and the models running from one show to the next! The sidewalk cafes and the lounges.
Please don't do NYC so I can have that high paying load!
    I LOVE New York!

I recommend staying 2,000 miles away from nyc at all times. I used to run the mid atlantic and northeast daily. Nothing but a nightmare. Rude, ignorant people up and down the entire east coast. No break in the traffic. At least L.A is sunny and the girls smile ! Big difference from the east coast cespool. If you don't know your way around n.y, philly, baltimore, etc.. you are in for a genuine treat.

Yeah... but back east we don't have to deal with the 22-hour per day traffic jam that makes a Swift truck look like its moving at warp 9 aka Los Angeles.

Try NYC in a snowstorm if you are up to a good challenge.
