| Don't know about websites, but there are some GPS type systems and software designed just for truckers. Mapquest directions are not usually that good in many cases. The only thing I use Mapquest for is to find out where something is, and create my own way of getting there, and that's for cars. My hubby and I use it periodically just to double check some of the directions he gets on the qualcomm.

| I use microsoft streets and trips with gps on my laptop. I plan my trip out along with using my atlas and my qualcomm directions to the shipper/consignee then plan it exactly that way.

| I didn't know mapquest or any other free site actually gave good directions for trucks listing low height clearance , hazmat , and bridge restrictions . You can get that with PC miler but I recommend a good GPS with trucker software . Checl online for good deals on them . |

| I use Delorme Street Atlas coupled with the Earthmate GPS. However it's still a good idea to call the shipper/receiver for directions, I've had the GPS and Delorme take me into neighborhoods where I shouldn't be with a truck. A couple of weeks ago I was in Charlestown IN. Delorme took me into a road I had to back out of. A guy stopped and told me where I needed to go and said "You must be useing Mapquest. It's wrong." |

| I would also get the trucker's atlas which lists the low clearance and restricted routes. Most trucking companies that deal with HazMat will give you specific routing that you need to follow. I was hoping someone would put some of the good trucker oriented programs on here. I don't think any of them are free though. Thanks for posting that RickG! I don't use mapquest for actual directions myself. For personal trips, I loosely - very loosely - base my trip on the maps that I get on Mapquest . Sometimes my hubby has me double check the directions to shippers or receivers he already has if they are not very clear sounding, but that's just double checking them.

| Not sure on that one although they do have a 3d option on there. but windows local live does not give low bridges, weight restrictions, etc.
