| In motorcycle safety training they teach this basic principle. I'm of the opinion it should be taught to all new drivers.

| The problem with your analogy:.............. The statement is based on the aspect that people are trained drivers....... In all aspects of motorvehicle use, drivers are only taught the basic aspects of driving..................(the minimum requires skills to safely drive) Unfortunately this applies to all drivers across the board. Civilian drivers, commercial drivers, motorcycles, etc. Receiving an operating license does not mean you are a driver, it just means you meet the minimum requirments to drive. This is why states have restrictions on new drivers. To have the skills you are refering to requires minmum of years of experience or added training IE: Defensive driving courses, accident avoidance courses, etc. People do not invest in these types of things unless they are required too. Most times after it has been too late. For instance, I also ride a motorcycle and I have taken the basic riding course and the advanced riding courses that are offederd. I spoke with riders that have been riding for years and never taken the course. Most of the time these people have been down or had an accident. I am not saying these course again remove or will make you super driver/rider but it does help. I have also had the defensive driver course for 4 wheelers and have had 2 high speed courses. People do not believe they cannot drive..........Most of the people here in the US could not handle driving on the audobahn (spelled?) in germany... Driving requires attention, higher thought processing, good decission making. If poeple wanted to invest in themselves the information and training is available..........

)It sure took some getting used to blasting by the cops doing 80+ mph faster than them ... but I adapted quickly. ![]() The education requirement for drivers there is so far above what is required here. There are some spectacular crashes on the Autobahn though. ![]() Quote:
I wish they would increase the requirements here, but it will never happen. |
