Fight it or Pay it?

A buddy of mine was driving a 10 car stinger in CT on I-95 north bound today in a 65 mph zone that drops to a 50 mph zone more towards the top of CT.

He said he not only saw the trooper behind him but heard everyone on the CB about the rolling smokey north bound when he was in the 65 mph zone. He didn't notice the 50 mph limit sign that he passed with the trooper in tow. The trooper pulled him over and wrote him for 66 in a 50.

Should he fight it or just pay it?

Should never pay a ticket. Fight it. Besides 66 in a 50 is awful close to reckless driving.

He can try to fight it, but next time don't worry abut what is being said on the "CB" pay attention to the speed signs instead, and is who is behind you..

I have been down that stretch of 95 many times and the signs are clear as day and even have yellow flashing lights on two sets. I think this is a fatal accident zone that there trying to get everyone's attention to slow down in.

Yeah I guess they got his attention. But is it still worth fighting?

He's thick headed, I told him to fight it and he asked me why so he could pay the $288 fine plus $50.00 court cost and other penalties when he can just pay the $288 and get it over with...

Why - cause it goes on your record and you can't go to driving school to get rid of it. Get enough of those and you won't be driving commerical trucks anymore.

It would be worth every penny of that to me if the courts reduced it to a lesser violation. I know in Calif 15 over is reckless operation.
