A relative that's in the military gave my boys a couple of recent MRE's to check out. The boys said they weren't too bad.

only thing about MREs is if you eat them for a few days strait you may want to roll your window down, you may pass out...
LOL - I think it may depend on your metabolism, or the choices of meals. I spent about 2 weeks eating MREs after Katrina. Only problem I had was hours later. They caused a small degree of.. um... stoppage.

Besides, nothing says "home" like the comfy smell of your own gas

Well MRE's are a luxury...
When I served we had "C" rats complete with the "John Wayne Bar".
Talk about "stoppage".....

A chocolate candy bar, well, rather a disk of chocolate.

aaah, I remember C-rats. And that's about all I remember of them. The memory is a wonderful thing - so good at blocking out traumatic experiences..

I think the MRE's were actually better! Not much has changed with school food over the years. You can still throw the cookies against a brick wall and wonder which will break first. The grilled cheese is about the same too! So is most of the other stuff.
