I tend to NOT use the blinker until I plan to actually make a move, or it becomes the little boy crying wolf. Especially in Atlanta. Over four blinks and they think you just left it on.
It's now starting to get here like it was many years ago in the Rotten Apple. 3 blinks and start coming over, or you AREN'T going to get over because they ignore you.
It stinks when you have to act like a ####### just to get your job done.

i see your point, but when i signal, i'm signaling my intentions. like when i come down an on-ramp, i have my signal on halfway down the ramp, so when whoever sees me with my signal on, they know i'm wanting to get into the next lane. Or if i'm wanting to make a lane change, and i KNOW there is a car in the lane i want to be in, i'll start to signal and try my best to make eye-contact with the driver of the car, if not, then i very slowly start inching my way over. NOT riding the zipper or crossing over to get their attention, but if they dont see i want over, and dont step on it or move over a lane to just let me in....the closer i get to their lane.

But you're right....sucks to have to act like a "Richard".

At the risk of sounding like a safety nerd, using your signal is part of the Smith System of driving. One of the five keys is "Make Sure They See You". Your turn signal is one such way, as Bo just described. However, I've done things like Red mentioned as well, especially in the big towns.

Both trucks are probably governed at the same speed. When you are behind you get the draft which allows you to get closer, when you pull out you lose the draft and both trucks are now cutting through the air at the same speed, soon as you tuck back in you are no longer having to cut the air which allows you to suck right back up to the truck in front of you.
Congratulations, you are officially not even close to what I was talking about. I was not referring to the guy who is going .000137 mph faster than the truck in front of him. I'm talking about when a truck is a mile in front of you and 5 minutes later its now 1/2 mile in front..another 5 minutes and your on his backdoor. you are going faster than that truck in front. Its got nothing to do with draft and wind or temporal rifts in the space time continuum. Your just rolling faster...till you go to pass...then suddenly Capt. Cellphone realizes he is being passed and is forced to defend his manhood by not allowing that to happen.

Did i just read that someone said "you are governed at the same speed, but when you get behind another truck you get a draft"? ...LOL.....

sorry, this isnt IndyCar or NeckCAR where there is an aerodynamic effect that keeps the cars glued to the ground, and gives them downforce. Whatever 'draft' you get, is barely measureable, if any at all. ....

that is why i always get a kick out of someone in a 4 wheeler, who you just KNOW is going 5mph faster than a car that just got out of their way...yet they change lanes with them, only to pretend they are in NeckCAR, then whip out and make the pass like they were Mario Andretti.......how lame.

The most annoying thing that happens is mountain driving to me, as a Swift driver my truck does 62, thats it, Schnieder does 61 I think or 60.5 something real close. Generally I'll just back off the speed, its stupid to try to pass.

Anyways, I was empty going north on 65 in Kentucky and got up behind a Schni truck who was heavy, and around the top of the hill I passed him with no troubles, he was heavy. HOWEVER he decided he'd use his weight as an advantage and threw it in neutral or something, and went flying down the hill doing probably 80(it was a company truck, Im sure he got in trouble for that nonsense) and did this to me 2-3 times before I finally got around him. Very frustrating and unprofessional.

Alot of drivers need to realize when to just pack it in and stop acting like douch.e bags, suck up thier "pride" and let the lighter traffic around on these big hills

He bounces back and forth, from 60 mph to 66 mph...on flat ground. All the while....I'm right on his ### trying to keep my cruise engaged.
Man I hate it when they do that...my truck will go a bit faster than a lot of company trucks but I usually cruise somewhere between 60 and 65 for the MPG's...sooner or later though I get mad and go fliyin past these idiots just for the spite of it.
