ok drivers, how 'bout that 65 in Ohio?

Ive only been on 80 and 76, but there are some places where the 55mph signs are still up. Others, the sign posts are still there, but no 55mph sign.
What a weird feeling, and Im sure others would agree. You still have trucks going slow, then you have trucks going 65. I think it'll take a while for everyone to figure it out.

I lived in the Buckeye for 30 years and I never thought they would up the speed limit for trucks. I guess hell finally froze over and pigs can fly.

I heard on the Lockridge report that the 55mph limit for trucks will go unchanged ONLY if the speed limit for cars is 60.
On US30, most of it is 60 for cars, but the portions that are 65 for cars, the 55 mph signs are still up. I guess its a slow pace theyre working at.

It's 65 on interstates only.

We will have to give it a few months then we can run 5 over and not have to worry about being pulled over! When coming up 77 today I had several cars speed up when I was passing them and stay right beside me. I expect to see this alot!

Your right they will be speeding up to stay in front of us or beside us. They have been able to run 10mph faster than us for so long I also expect to see more of them getting speeding tickets because they won't know how to act with the new change. I'm also not sure that most of the people that live their are even aware of it. I have a good friend who lives off of I-75 in Troy and i was talking to him yesterday and he had no idea. He usually keeps up on alot of stuff so most of them may not even be aware of the change.

I wonder how much $ Ohio is going to lose now?

Since most of us company trucks are lucky if we can even drive 65, I wonder how much money the state will not make off of speeding trucks?
Moreover, what other non-sense rules are they going to dream up to replace the loss of revenue? anti-idle laws perhaps?
I wonder what the state troopers are going to if and when we get our EOBRs?
No speeding tickets, no logbook tickets! what's Smokey Bear gonna do to make money for the state?

I bet you'll start seeing it made up at the scales as well as more trumped up reasons to get pulled over like following too close, improper lane change, drifting between the lines, etc etc...... They might have to start pulling over more 4 wheelers but I'm also sure that there will still be plenty who will still push it and try for 70mph and get caught just like the ones that have always pushed it before.

Now you living in ohio should know they go after cars as much as trucks! They are most likely gonna be strict at first then relax after a few months. To be honest I expect to see alot of accidents due to the fact of cars not wanting trucks to pass them!

We are talking about Ohio not PA...LOL. Anyway Ohio is closing most scales and moving to portable ones so they're gonna have to work the DOT guys hard to make up any losses, not that I figure they will. We all know there is gonna be someone who is gonna bust 75mph and whine about a ticket...
