Well with all the data collection and file compulations they do on drivers...they still seem to mess up on hireing the right person....

Files and data don't tell the complete story...whatever happened to good old fashion interviews?

Count the letters in the word "interview" to many for a recruiter to spell let alone do a good one with the intent to "get to know the person"!

There is no such thing as "Private" in the 21st Century.
Thanks to Home Land Security,
I can use your car tags to retrieve your social # (if the car is in your name)and from there I can print out your entire life history in less then 30 min.
You can Thank,
Law Enforcement (DMV)
Your Bank
Insurance Policy Holder

Its much easier to do with the common Employment Application
often found laying on a desk "unsecured"

Exactly right. Not only is the trucking company trying not to spend money pulling what is left of your truck and the freight out of the ditch but the big liability is in court. When you get to court and you are the trucking company you have to prove you did everything within your power to prevent a faulty truck or driver from being at the scene of the accident. The mere fact that the trucking company is a business and the poor wretched soul sitting in a wheel chair with a neck brace is just a lone victim, you are presumed probably guilty by the jury. Even if the company did most things right and the "victim" did a few things wrong the jury is likely to go ahead and give lost of the trucking company money to the victim "just to be fair."

If companies don't make a real effort to toss bad apples overboard ASAP some satanic plaintiff's lawyer will make them pay dearly for that compassion.

Plaintiff's lawyer: What do you mean Mr. Trucking Company you knew your driver had such a drinking problem that he was getting alcohol-related tickets on his off time? How many other flagrant violations of this driver did you overlook. Why look at my client Marquell Antwon Washington. He's trying to support 6 children and 4 wives and will not be able to pursue his dream of attending Harvard and becoming the next Nobel Prize winner in physics. We are only asking for a paltry $40 million dollars to give this poor family the happiness they deserve.

I know that I'm not an experienced driver, but I do remember them telling us in school that any ticket(even in our own car)had an effect on our CDL. On the other hand not a single person in this world has not made a mistake sometime, somewhere. Does everyone have the capacity to forgive , but insurance company's and the DOT?

It down right scares me all the collection of data they do on you, and then don't even hire you....

Just today I asked a company if I could have my application back....I was like 'why did you waste 3 hours of my time and allow me to give you all my personal info...if your not going to hire?
I told them I wanted the application back...rather than have all my personal info, licence, social ect just laying around for anyone to see.

And on line applications are worse...who knows who gets that stuff...someone in China could recieve your application...

Now days, the information on your application is like your DNA...it's your history, who you are...your allowing them to pry all into your background...your naked before them...

Like walking through an x-ray machine....and then after all of that...they don't hire you...
So whenever they don't hire me, I ask them for my application back...or to shred it...

You sign it,which "releases it" aka: your "consent".

Its no longer yours and they are not going to give it back to you.
