| Most applications these days are imaged from paper and the paper is tossed, they will have to print you a hard copy and mail it. Two "physical acts" that will most likely not happen. Point is still, they retain a copy of your application on some server or disk which remains in their custody.

| I own a small chemical company (that the economy has hit pretty good) and it is a federal mandate that all companies in the US keep a copy of ALL applications for employment on file for a minimum of 6 months. |

Because federal law mandates that it is kept, and ummmm I would also like my app on file in case there is a, ummmm job opening and if I am still looking I think that I would want them to have a way of getting a hold of me. Some companys will return a COPY of it but I never have heard of getting the original back, again, its the law. 2nd. Once you signed the application, It then became their property, NOT YOURS. Bottom Line, Applications have to be kept for 6 months after that the company has the option to either keep the file or destroy it. |

| Ok, I guess I see your point...but to me it's like applying for a modeling job...and in order to be considered, you must strip down naked infront of the panel...where they look at you from all sides, up and down...and then after putting yourself out there, revealing your every secret...they don't hire you.... Or even call to say...'Thanks for applying...we'll call if there's an opening' (every now and then companies will do that...bless their hearts) But in hard times like these...people don't like having their emotions played with...false hope, false leads... And if the people at these companies took phycology, they would know that... |

| Yep I completely understand, the economy has finally hit my company hard and I need to get back out on the road, but since I have been out of it for a while I need to go back to one of the mills so I can get my recient experiance back up there. |

| This is a joke, right? I mean you did know that an open container is illegal? I curious as to why you took this kind of risk with your CDL? |

But then there are mistakes, and mistakes. When you make the choice to ignore alcohol (or dope) related laws behind the wheel, I believe that is something more than just a mistake. Big difference between "oozing" through a stop sign, or allowing your speed to creep up a few miles over the limit, and drinking and driving.
