Two Weeks Notice or not? What to do?

    Been with same company for over three years now, Just waiting for "offer of employment" elsewhere. Thinking about giving my two weeks notice, I've heard & read the "horror stories" about doing that. It's like a "double edged sword". screwed if u do, scewed if you don't! I just want to "leave on good terms", and not get screwed. Not sure what to do! Help!!!!!!!

    Three years and you are leaving? 1. Give your two weeks notice, but be prepared for them to let you go early. It's their discretion.2. Keep your nose clean for the two weeks as best you can(don't rock the boat).3.When your last day arrives leave quietly,no fanfare. 4. They may try to persuade you to stay. DON"T!!. Stick to your guns. 5. Make sure you are right, then go ahead.

    Wait until you have another job offer that you want to accept. Then tell that company that you are going to give your current company 2 weeks notice and that you will do the same for them if you leave. This sort of tests the new company as well. If they pressure you to start immediately you probably do not want to work for them.

    If the old company cuts you loose early or screws up your DAC you can start immediately for your new company.

    I gave a months notice to my last job (non trucking). Longest month I ever worked.

    Give the notice and take any consequences that come from it in stride.

    give them notice via a certified letter with a return reciept that way you know and can prove they got it and if they fire you for bs you have a defence

    When I quit my last otr job I waited till I had a load bringing me home, then I told them I was quiting and giving my two week notice. They tried to talk me into staying and I said no so they told me to clean out the truck, 2 week notice wasnt necessary with them. I already had the local job lined up and ready to go they were just waiting till I got home. Every company is different and also will depend how your relationship with your dispatcher is.
