Better yet-
Keep a 10 ton bottle jack in your sidebox. After setting the trailer brakes, lift your drive axle up, hop in the cab and shove it in reverse. Win-Win with no downside. 0% idle and you'll erase your out-of-route miles.

Now that is funny I don't care who you are
-
Yeah that IS funny! -
Actually the Qualcomm satellite is way down in the sky something like 20* above the horizon to the south. Buildings and real heavy clouds can block the signal and being way up north also blocks them.
The light just gets your attention and the words no signal tells you the problem. Move the truck a little by turning it so the dome has a better southerly facing.
Modern technology, ya gotta love it! -
I drove for swift and let me say now I am not a plant I'm outta work right now but my volvo was an 06 had the auto idle system always worked I always got the atta boy for low idle time and was never uncomfortable in my truck? no elogs or any of that but it was definitely Swift white truck and all. the bunk heater messed up once contacted DM he said take it in and get it fixed I was passing by Phoenix loaded stopped in asked if they could fix it in a few hrs so my load wouldn't be late 2 hrs later I'm on the road no problem. just my experience.

Most everyone I talk to ignore the messages. Or so they claim.

cough, cough........i heard......you can jump the number 2 an 5 pin with a paper clip, mumble mumble.......on the plug in for the computer...usually located.........well..........it's lets say easily accessed for the mechanics...around the dash area w/out having to climb in the trk.........this will allow you to idle w/out showing...........just be warned though........theres some serious voltage there, and this is why i make this post, for any of you that heard of this, be extremely careful, as it's more than a 12 v, which don't make sense, as it's a 12v system, or maybe i'm just forgettin what 12v feels like, but it will work if your carefull, just don't hit any other pins, and don't forget to pull the clip out when your redy to roll again

Offer to pay for the fuel.

As said before stuff the keyboard out the window, put the dispatchers and companies phone number on silent on the cell and sleep like a baby!
When asked why you idled so much send this back and see what happens:
I idled because it was x degrees here and I need to sleep so I don't KILL someone when I nod off due to being tired or wreck the truck or damage the load. What temperature did You, The Boss or the MORON who came up with this stupid no idle policy sleep at last night or what is the temperature in the office? Turn your stuff off and I'll turn mine off or you pay for a motel! You all stay comfortable, I stay comfortable! Now, if you keep sending me messages while I'm trying to sleep, I will reset my HOS until I get a 10 hour UNINTERRUPTED off duty time!
Punch send and Y to send it on its merry way!
Let us know what they send you back! BUT I'd be looking for a REAL company to drive for!
But to tell the truth when you did your phone interview and they said no idle policy and meant you do not idle which you really need to verify if they say a no idle policy, do they mean NO Idling or we don't have an idling policy! I can guarantee you if they tell ME they don't let the driver sleep in comfort or you will not have over a stupid percentage idle time all they will hear on the phone is dial tone!
If they lied to me on the phone and I get to their orientation and then spring a we don't allow idling, I'll explain to then where they can drive that idea and park it then I'll be out the door and all they'll see of me is tail lights heading out the gate! I never take a stupid bus to an orienaton! No sence in staying and wasting my time to listen to what is a moron giving you directions on how to be a company "bent over the tank handheld wannabe driver!"
And yes I have and will! 32 years in this industry and I have more experience than the owner or CEO of that BFI company, so I can get away with it!
Good Luck
