I just love the season we have up here. I lived 2 years in Alabama and although that isn't long, I think I got a pretty good example of what it is like without the extremes we have just up this far in Oregon. I love it though and much more the heat and humidity. I lived in CA for 2 years also and people thought I was nuts down there because I kept asking when was it gonna rain. I'm a true "web-foot" and hope I always get to live here. I so love to see other places though as well as the people I meet along the way. I love to travel but coming home is awesome, especially for Christmas time. Christmas is not the same for me in 80 degree weather, lol Meley kalekimaka(splg??) my a__!!!

It's actually nice driving in challenging weather after you've been out there a while.. It's a nice change to actually have to put effort into what your doing as opposed to setting the cruise and listening to the radio and watching the tree's and grass go by.

But i still won't chain =)

I agree, those long, boring stretches are sometimes as deadly. Something to keep us on our toes You know, like driving through tornado alley "cow, left" "cow, right, hey, same cow". Did you see Twister? There was also a flying semi in that movie Yeeeeeeeehaw!!!!

You're the man I have been looking for! I've spent the last three days splitting 30"-40" diameter red fir logs by hand. Some splits fairly good, but on others the grain is twisted and trying to get it to split is a major hernia. I'm fixing to go find some smaller pine to pick on and let the fir wait until you get here.

I've burned a lot of wood in my time. I bought a new house last year and my gas bill for heat and hot water is $40 a month. I gave my chainsaw and my splitting maul to my son in law and said, "go to it boy".
