There you go, stick to that and you'll be fine! That's the biggest think with winter driving(or any driving for that matter) never get out of your comfort zone for anyone else, ever. Be it other drivers, dispatch, 4 wheelers, etc. Just because other trucks or traffic are moving doesn't mean you need to be, driver within your own means and you should do well.

eckz has alot of good advice for winter driving, lots of good info to remember...watch your speed, drive as far as you can see, anticipate things coming, etc.

rain, snow, sleet, hail, ice, it's all the same, if the roads open, I'm going. It's not about being a supertrucker or otherwise, it's about not sitting on my hands doing nothing. I take my time, pay attention to what I'm doing, it's also about knowing my truck and how it will react.

Eh, it wasn't really snow.. It was ICE.. That's worse! You can get some traction in snow for the most part, depending on the condition that it's in.. Remember, we weight 80,000lb's so you're tires will sink right through the snow to the bare concrete.. that is one advantage that we have, you should still take it easy though.

Ice is when you park it, period, weight does not help on ice!

I agree, I won't go over ice. Black-ice is the worst I've seen. Because you "can't" see it

yeah ice is the worst, I got stuck in that ice storm in missouri last winter and even going 10 mph trying to stop I had no traction and the trailer wanted to slide out so I just had to coast to a stop. I stepped out on the interstate once everything was stopped behind me and I could barely stand on the road. Was stuck there for 4 hours cause a werner was jackknifed across the road.
