Anyone know a place where one can rent a MANUAL 18 wheeler with a trailer for a short period of time, say a day?

Not sure about Dallas but here on the north end of Waco(Bellmead). Across the street from DPS testing office, they have a truck w/trailer for rent. It is a day cab w/trailer (18 wheels). The trailer appears to be 48'. If your interested, I could write the number down for you.

The only other suggestion I have is, call Penske or Ryder. I know they rent class 8 trucks but don't know the terms.

The terms with Ryder are tough. You have to be qualified and you need the cash. I used to rent just the tractor and I would flop down $10,000 in cash and they used that for an account. Of course I was out for long periods of time but I do not think they would rent a tractor for one day and I'm sure they do not rent trailers. The trailers are mostly set up for lease and not rentals. Sorry. It sounds like the best way to go is renting a private set up and just make sure it will pass inspection.

Uh, in arizona ryder will rent a tractor for a day ... and a trailer for a day. But gas hauler is right, you better have a credit card with a serious limit. AND take some lube with ya, when they bend you over it really hurts.

Penske is the same way. If ryder or penske only have power units available you probably have lots of trailer options in your area, ie xtra lease, national, pmi. Again be ready to pony up a retarded amount of money for a security deposit

The day cab deal would be fine if you could get the number that would be worth the drive, I need to spend a few hours driving around to prepare for my next road test, and the schools crappy trucks and lot just will not work.
