Hey...I said "good luck" But I'm not gonna lie, I'm glad to see the part timers leave. We went through this stuff in the seventies too when Smokey and the Bandit came out and all of the sudden everyone had a C.B. radio and wanted to be a "trucker"! All of the sudden there were all kinds of people out here that were not cut out for OTR trucking. It was not as bad as it is now because the trucks were a lot harder to drive and the trucking companies were not getting subsidized to put morons in trucks!

When the part timers lost interest and it settled down to real truckers doing real work I was happy to see it happen. I will be happy every time I hear that someone that doesn't want to be out here goes home to work local or at Burger King or to the homeless shelter.

I'm not gonna pretend otherwise...

Yup, I'm a part timer. 13 years driving. Did 10 1/2 years OTR, 1.5 million miles accident free. Owned my own trucks. Sold them to go haul gas two years ago because I like to have a life of my own. Actually made more money than I had at anytime in my trucking career. Got hurt in a non work related accident that led to me being laid off. Unemployment wasn't cutting it so I sucked it up and went back OTR in May, something I hated to do because, you know, I actually had a life for once!

So enjoy having one less space taken up in a truck stop there super trucker. This part timer will be thinking of you when I am having a beer after a long 10 hour day and maybe 200 miles.
