Oh NO you don't !!!

RADAR is infallible.....as told to me 13 times in one year (1980's).

Ohio is gonna love you if you get nailed there.

PHOENIX (AP) - A driver has racked up dozens of speeding tickets in photo-radar zones on Phoenix-area freeways while sporting monkey and giraffe masks, and is fighting every one by claiming the costumes make it impossible for authorities to prove he was behind the wheel.

"You've got to identify the driver, and if you can't it's not a valid ticket," said Dave VonTesmar, a 47-year-old flight attendant said.

If I remember right "Prima Facia" is what it's called. (Having to actually visualy verify the vehicle that is speeding) I was certified to run radar in GA about 18 years ago.

kaji I just about choked on my gum once I noticed the picture on your signature. One of the best episodes ever.

Anyway, the monkey mask guy is my idol. I like the point he made about the police surveillance photos of him. If he was seriously endangering people DPS would have made a stop then and there. This is just an agency that doesn't like to be questioned or mocked. Same thing as the MN Trooper that was being interviewed and got angry when asked direct questions about the fatigue survey he created. Please understand that I love law enforcement, but this kind of stuff is just dumb. How can I face my accuser when it's a computer?

I am not a fan of the photo radar at all. I'm a cop and think that it is ridculous. Part of my job is discretion. I can have the discretion to write you a ticket or not. A computer radar gun has no discretion. I know in my State, the red light camera tickets go to the owner of the vehicle, and the operator does not have to be identified. The owner is responsible for the civil fee and no points are assessed. With interference, at least with the units we are running now, you don't see it very often. The radar unit are assigned to the vehicles, so they never come out until calibration time. The units are then connected to the transmissions to get the "patrol speed", off the pulsations of the transmisson. So no longer does the radar antennae have to have the beam, when activated, pick up the patrol car speed for the moving mode. The new units are the best I have seen in my 12 1/2 years, very accurate, but as the operator you still have to use your visual observations and still check for shadowing or batching (the interference). Iroc girl, the big trucks do not cause wind turbulance that messes up the radar. With the older units like the Kustom KR-10's and Decatuer Genesis', the would only display one speed reading for the violator and the "patrol speed". When I first used these, if you had multiple vehicles in the beam, the field of influence, most of the time they would pick up the larger vehicle. They would also switch back and forth from fastest to largest. This is where your visual observation comes in. Radar is a complicated device when there is numerous vehicles in the beam if you are not experienced. With the Kustom Golden Eagle Dual Direction units we use, it has another display for the fastest vehicle in the beam of influence. So if a truck is in lane 2 (slow lane) at 64 mph and a four wheeler is in lane 1 (hammer lane) at 85, you will see both speeds displayed on the unit. I know when traffic is heavy, I will not use the radar, it's much easier to run it when traffic is light and not many vehicles in the beam at any time. In those instances I will utilize the Laser. Laser, the most accurate form of speed detection I have ever used. So easy anyone can use it. I could instruct any of you on this forum very quickly how to use the laser and obtain speed readings on it. Any way I agree with most of you on here, how the hell can a defendant have a trial and be able to question their accuser if it is a computer. I guess I'm from the old school of traffic enforcement. And I agree with what someone posted on here, if it's so unsafe, why aren't they stopping them then and there to correct the behavior and slow up the violator.
