I just started with Marten Transport about 1.5 weeks ago. This past Sat I bumped a JB Hunt intermodal container. No damage to either trailer, but the JB Hunt driver had to report it, so I did as well.

Due to a policy of no incidents in the first 30 days, I was terminated today. It is being recorded on my DAC as a preventable.

I'm not whining about how unfair it is or anything, I take full responsibility for the lapse of judgement for not using GOAL.

Just wondering where I go from here, get out of trucking?
BTW, I still think Marten is a great co...

Why'd he have to report something that did no damage? I wouldn't.

I bumped a trailer at a shipper (no damage, not even cosmetic,) but a switcher saw the "incident" and told the shipper. they called my company and my company gave me a ration of shet for NOT damaging someone else's trailer. they didn't fire me though. the reason the brotha told the company was because he caught whitey doing something and saw his chance to get "tha man" in trouble. I would dispute the entry on your DAC and demand to see proof of the "incident..." police report, signed confession, etc.

Okay, the JB Hunt driver was not in the wrong, why are we bashing him. He didn't hit anyone, and cargo may have been unknowingly damaged if the thing was loaded. You are saying if someone hit you you'd not report it if you didn't think there was any damage? Then you get to the consignee and find out that the load shifted due to that and you have 5 cases of damaged product? Of course then mentioning that little incident would be very bad for YOUR job.

JB was just covering his behind in a VERY VOLATILE job market.

I want to remind drivers any company enrolled with DAC/USIS. This is from the phone conversation I had with USIS a couple of years ago. A company can report anything they want on your DAC, as long as its truthful. You sneeze wrong, they can report it period.

Now is it fair, NO. I think it should be illegal and find it immoral of comapnies that do such practices. You can dispute any claims by said company but if there is a slight truth to it. DAC/USIS will not remove it. I could go on a rant of this but I would have to bann myself.

The guy bumped an intermodal container. Not hard enough to damage anything, just a bump. You really think that was going to damage any cargo? It's in an intermodal container. The same ones that get slammed onto the trailer by the cranes that slam them by the corners and swing them through the air and slam them onto the boat or train. The guy probably backs into a dock harder than this guy bumped his trailer.

If there was no damage than the J. B Hunt driver is just a douche bag cry baby who just tarnished someones driving career over a non-issue. That's why everyone is banging on John Boy. He's probably done a lot worse his self.
