Hi, I just applied to drive for a contractor at FedEx Ground. Does anybody know how long it typically takes for the background and everything to come back? Thanks..

30 days normally. As long as everything is good on your end, nothing incomplete or forgot about when you did your application.

Are you freakin serius???? 30 days? surely you jest? The wife and I plan on filling out our application in 3 weeks.. I am a little concerned however, about my DAC. I cant find anything on their requirement, just a clean mvr is all I find. oh, and no dui's or felonys...

I filled out an application on a Monday interviewed on Wednesday
Filled the bottle and physical on Friday and started orientation on the following Monday
it all depends on how tight a ship your safety director is running. Never seen a back ground check take that long. Except the ones for Homeland security for your HazMat endorsement or TWIC card.

Yeah it only took me about two weeks to get my haz-mat, and that was from the day I got fingerprinted to the day I took the test. I also have 3 moving violations all from 2008. They're still on my MVR however because West Virginia keeps moving violations on MVRs for 5 years instead of the usual 3 years like most other states. Do you think this will hinder my chances of getting hired?

We filled out paperwork (computer), took about 2 hrs... got a call 2 days later saying safety just needed to sign off... We decided to go do something else than the following week, we changed our minds, again...lol. Called up contractor, said we just needed to get dbl's endorsments and take road test before safety could sign off. It was a sunday when the contractor told us that, we took our test on monday for the dbl's and passed, I might add. The following day we took road test and by that friday, we were good to go for the following monday, to start working... No orientation, no hazmat needed, no trainer, and the boss is a good ole boy. Not much of a trucker but a good busness person. We have no computer in the truck, we pick where we fuel, we pick what loads we want to take, we pick where we want to run and we don't get bothered by NO ONE! There is a GPS Tracking device in the truck but, its his truck and he has all the right in the world to know where it is, whenever he wants. We do the right thing at all times so, we have no worries about him knowing where we are.. So far, so great!
