That my friend should be no problemn to answer. I work for fedex fright and the dock to driver program is a good program. You will be working the dock for 6 months and then if everthing comes back good you will go to a school and then drive with a trainer. I thinkj you will have to agree to work for fedex for a time and not move to any other company.

Driver pay starts around 22.00 per hour and I think road is 54 cpm. Fedex is the best driver company I have ever worked for,

As fast as fedex drivers go... Either they are always late, or have a massive bonfire lit under their ###. If Schneider has already hired and begun training you, then I'd stick with that.

I admit I'm new, but I don't envy fedex drivers at all... They get paid well, but I think they run their ##### off for it.

(SNI drivers are governed at 64 mph, the only time fedex doesn't blow my doors off is on steep roads.)

To be fair to Fedex, I was told they were a good company to work for. I chose Schneider myself because I'm a new driver and I know that they do well by their new drivers. My primary experience with them is on the road, or on my doorstep.

thanks buddy .i already have my CDL with all the endorsements .i got the job offer as i said and just waiting for background check ..the area in which i was only starts people at 18.60/h .yes i was thinking it was a good opportuninty for me and at least a foot in the door .do you know anything about the average hours they keep their part time employees at.and what about the linehaul drivers and city drivers ..cuz i think they told me that is what i am gonna be doing afterwards .cuz i don`t wanna starve during my first six months .i don`t mind working the dock for some time ..so am willing to do my best and all it takes to work my way up .

FedEx FREIGHT (company employee drivers) is not to be confused with Fedex GROUND, which are nearly all contract owner operators.

I dont think I have ever witnessed a FxF driver going over 65-67 on a straight, think they are governed.

Ground is a whole nother story...

Should be an easy decision, FxF is the largest LTL freight company out there, they pay well, & you get home every night when you work your way to a bid run.

Big orange is a primarily TL carrier mega, with what sounds like a regional opportunity...30cpm sounds like bottom feeder OTR wages not unlike CR england, swift, etc.

Two different worlds, two different paychecks.

I have yet to meet a former LTL that went back to TL except a few Walmart drivers & owner ops.

Driver apprentice program is for those who cannot prove experience behind the wheels. If you already have your CDL and all endorsements, it shouldn't take you more than 4 weeks to finish the program (32-40hrs/wk). Right after you finish the program you are offered the city driver position, and scheduled for an out of town training week (paperwork and policies).

The problem sometimes is to get assigned to an instructor, it takes some weeks, or months, because only approved instructors can do this, not all service centers have instructors. While this happens, you get to work the dock and learn that part of the job. Once you are done with the program they give you a raise, to whatever the starting pay for drivers at that service center is at that time.

    I wouldn't let it go.

Thank you so much .that is some very good insight..i have just got a call from the hiring manager asking me to stop by to move to the next step of filling up some more paperwork of pre-employement and bring in my passport ,driver licence ,social security.so i am guessing my background check came back good ..i am sure there will be some drug test but am not worried about that.

Be sure you verify this with your recruiter, but yes. Schneider pays you for the time you're in class. You should get more information on it when you go down there to see them; if you drive more than 50 miles then sometimes they'll also pay for your fuel.
