Does FEDEX Freight have a formal program for dock to driver? Thanks!

As far as I know you can apply for the driver app. on line or thru working on the dock first and then for the postion. You do not need a cdl they will train you. But I do think you need the learners permit before training

I will say this is a very good job you would be very lucky to get it.

You will spend more time on the dock than you will driving. My father worked for them for 15 years and was messed over badly by them. They are very strict and depending on what type of terminal manager you get will depend on the stress level you will get. They've been known to hire apprentice people only to keep them on the dock. They hired a young fellow in my dad's barn to do what you are trying to do..trained him to get his cdl and put him covering a day line haul turn..he made it 20 miles up the road and laid his set over in the median..you can do much better ltl wise..try old dominion. But regardless good luck in whatever you do!

Yeah, I have UPS, ABF, etc on my list too. I have my permit, but I dont have my CDL yet. I may just go otr and then apply to these ltl carriers in a year or so.

Well I certainly don't want to discourage you in getting a good job..I just was pointing out some things that you may run into. But shop around talk to some of the drivers for the ltl companies, or go to some of the terminals and speak with the managers and explain to them what your looking to do. You have to interview the company just like their gonna interview you!! I've driven ltl and it's a good gig. Good luck to you!!!
