15 Companies That Might Not Survive 2009

15 Companies That Might Not Survive 2009
Quote:
Who's next?

With consumers shutting their wallets and corporate revenues plunging, the business landscape may start to resemble a graveyard in 2009. Household names like Circuit City and Linens 'n Things have already perished. And chances are, those bankruptcies were just an early warning sign of a much broader epidemic.
Moody's Investors Service, for instance, predicts that the default rate on corporate bonds - which foretells bankruptcies - will be three times higher in 2009 than in 2008, and 15 times higher than in 2007. That could equate to 25 significant bankruptcies per month.
We examined ratings from Moody's and data from other sources to develop a short list of potential victims that ought to be familiar to most consumers. Many of these firms are in industries directly hit by the slowdown in consumer spending, such as retail, automotive, housing and entertainment.

There are Sbbaro's at the two malls here in Madison. Malls are also much more expensive to have spaces in than some other locations. Claire's also have locations in both malls here.

I noticed that Chrysler was in their. If they go it'll hurt Celadon, that's for sure.
Celadon has been getting hit by a lot of the slowdowns. When I drove for them some of our best loads centered on chrysler, freightliner and the respective companies that supplied them. I wouldn't be surprised to see chrysler fall but I would not be happy about it either.
We are losing way too many companies, so please by all means lets raise the corporate taxes and capital gains taxes so that we can put the stake thru the heart of the vampire( us economy) a bit quicker please.

i dont see blockbuster around at the end of next year not with redboxes showing up all over the place even walmarts and the fact that you can return them to any redbox makes it a viable product even for us

I can't see Sirius closing up. Hopefully Howard Stern will give back some of his money to keep them afloat. What hurts the satellite radio companies is the fact that new cars aren't selling so their subsciber base isn't growing.
