I have BofA and use direct deposit. My check is deposited on the 1st and 15th of every month. Most of my bills are also paid electronically on the 1st and 15th of every month. I have never had a problem with the bills being paid before the check was deposited. As a matter of fact, it was a smaller bank that used to do that to me, not the "evil mega-bank."
Yeah, I'm not talking about BoA in particular. There's a few other banks that pull this stuff. What I meant by the rest of your check is, it's deposited, but they do not put it in your account. They hold it in limbo, even if it's direct deposit. They'll make up atm fees for their own atms and hit your account with them to drive it into the hole, for example. Then they deposit your check minus the charges. They have all kinds of tricks to do this and they've been getting steadily worse over the past 3 years since I noticed it.
