might want to rethink that one, thats the same as any curfew in a metro area, they dont want permit loads in those hours.

stay off i-285 during those hours , i hauled mobile homes and mods 16 feet wide out of georgia for years and i learned the hard way.

You are wrong, and that comes straight from the State of Georgia permit office.

no curfews in ga. except inside 285 period. allways been that way. another thing to remember if you have a spread axle on your dropdeck some states will only give you 40000lbs. and no more. if you get stopped and they ask if you have a dump valve on the rear axle. say no!! or they will delete that axle if they weigh you.

I believe he's just saying you don't want to be on the road at that time because of traffic, not that you Can't be on it. Lots of metro areas will allow you access, but your better off waiting until it dies down.

Depends on permits . I hauled a 58,000 lbs gold grinder out of mtns of vail CO. It was 10'-6" wide 22' long 9'-6" high my permits were for 106,000 lbs . 14k steers , 46k drives, 56k on 48' spread axle step deck . OZ loads dont go by legal wts. But,What is required to move the load. If the load is. Nondivsible or cant be broke down. It goes by total length of tractor/trailer and distance between all axles . Is there front/rear overhang. Remember u need to light and flag load that over hang rear 4' or more for. Nite travel. Over 4' overhang needs permit. I have several firefox magnetic lights for movement amber/red lights. They have 60pd magnets. Ive ran from sumner tx to yukon terr. They didnt budge. Good price on batteries is at walmart. Pickup an OZ load book at most truckstops for details for loads and movemet times.

oversize you can specify the axle weight for each grouping

You can specify but there are certain maximums that you can't go over most states adhere to 20000 an axle but some like Wyoming allow more on a grouping. No state that I am aware of allows more than 40000 on a spread which is what the op was asking about.

On the load in question I was 38,700 on the trailer. It only weighed 44,000. The one end was about three hundred pounds heavier, so that went to the front.

How od loads work . It total length of tractor and trailer together. Then distance from steer axle center to 1st drive axle center to 2nd drive axle . From 2nd drive axle to 1st trailer axle. From there its 1st trailer axle to 2nd trailer axle . Then to end of trailer. Remember od loads that can not be broken into smaller loads have certain exceptions of weights allowed. Example to haul a od transfomer that weights 100,000 lbs . U need a rgn with 3axles a 2axle jeep
and a 1 or 2 axle booster to make bridge fomula. How permits are made is by axle measurements x weight and size of load And weight= road allowance .
Ive been asked how much weight i need on a particular axle set usually they give it to you. Because it cant be moved wIthout load .being reduced. I have a pic of the load i did and permit layout i can post to get a visual understanding.

Dude there is lot of us that have posted advice on this thread and understand how OD permitted weights work. I deal with them everyday I run a fleet of lowboys and spent 8 years pulling a 12 axle unit. I have never had a state just give me whatever weight I wanted on a set be it spread, tandem, triple, quad, or five in a row if I am going to be over their maximums of what I can bridge they usually tell me to hang more axles on it. The point of this is if that Colorado and the other states gave you 56 on a 48 ft spread axle step I would like you to post the permit up because I have never been able to get over 20k an axle on a spread in Colorado.
