Those final drives are a piece of cake to tarp, so 15 minutes is about it for them. 1 tarp, and the load is @5' tall, 6' wide and maybe 18' long if you get two of them.
As far as my "normal" loads........

Go for it. Just don't ####-off the guy on the fork lift. Unless you LIKE putting the lumber tarps back on the truck yourself. LOL. Good luck.

I class them as oversize myself too.
Super loads are the blades IMHO.
When you get into route surveys, and so on, they are super loads in my book.

Assuming that you live in Minnesota,

Have you looked at the recruiting areas of these companies?? I live just noth of milwaukee and tmc and maverick wouldn't recruit me because I was too far north. I finally got accepted by BOyd BRos. but even
Then I was north of their line....

If all else fails you could look at roehl. They have a flatbed division
And not too bad of pay and benefits

I don't think you will have any trouble at all based upon your go getter attitude.

The bad part about tarping is folding them up. I absolutely hate doing it for some reason.

the ironic thing with that that your comedically challenged friend forgot to mention is the smaller oversize loads are more difficult. no escorts for example.

    Yes and no.
Up to a certain size, escorts are a total waste.
Now at the 12' and up mark, if it is a crate etc that blocks vision, then yes a good escort is worth their weight in gold. No matter how much of an extending mirror you have, it isn't going to magically be able to see behind a 13 or 14' wide load is it?:biggrin_25525:
Ne has to have the most idiotic rule going IMHO.....put 2 strobe lights on your trailer, and that replaces a rear escort. Like that extra strobe/beacon is going to miraculously make you see better and make you safer.:biggrin_25513:

I wouldnt return to pulling a van for anything. Love the challenge of flatbedding. As was said, theres nothing like seeing a big properly secured load behind you. I dont tarp much, just how the loads fall I reckon. My blue tarps live on the trailer. Just watch what youre doin and you should be fine. If you dont know ASK. Ive asked several other flatbedders "how do I secure this?" However.... Always make sure that the securement is enough, more than enough. Just cause thats how they do it, doesnt mean its the right way. If it looks like it could fall off, it probably can, add more securement. I have about 20 4" straps, Ive used almost all of them on some loads. Load I got now has 12 straps. Its 29,000 pounds of underground fabric. As tall as the truck, and the length of the trailer. Also has pipe stakes on it, but the shipper put those on.
