Well I loaded a jumbled mess at the shipper and the truck rode like she was loaded heavy. Well, I got to Eloy and decided to scale out. My axle weights are all legal but I'm at 80,480 gross. I know NM is 86,400 so I'm not worried there, it's mainly AZ that worries me and I'm not sure if the eastbound San Simon scales are open or not. Last time I was out here a year ago they had them closed down and barrels up. Just wondering of anyone has been out here recently knows anymore???
I'm 85 miles from the shipper and they are closed till Monday and I have to be in Ft. Worth by then. I am also at 1/2 tanks right now so I can get fuel AFTER The AZ scales but am just worried. A few guys told me I'd be ok but I don't have a APU so I don't get the extra 400# credit. I'm thinking I'll just try to go buy there Saturday morning and hopefully they are closed. I really have no other options.

Yeah, I really should have scaled this mess atthe Pilot in Phoenix but I didn't think it was as heavy as it is..... And my trailer only weighs 8,450#'s !!!!!

I have not seen that eastbound scale open ever. I used to run I10 in the winter months. Like i said never! Fuel weights about 7#/gal. You'll be fine.

They were open on the 10 when I was there in January. Pulled me in and drove up to the drive up type window, and the lady asked for my registration, that was about it. So I asked her if she had any coffee, and she went to check, LOL. She said they didnt have any. Said goodbye and took off.
My advice is don't chance it. Go back to the shipper and show them you are over gross. refuse to leave until its fixed.
While 400# usually will not get you trouble, it could cause them to have you bring in your papers, etc. And possibly a ticket. Its possible, not probable. But Id go back and make them reload it.
If your axles are all ok, wheres the over gross? Steers? -
Have been running I 10 from Casa Grande to Dallas for 7 or 8 months and have never seen that scale open. The scale in Lordsburg is always open. On Sunday morning early, they'll run you through but there's no one in the booth or in the building.
Good luck to you. -

BTW, if you need fuel, SAVOY travel center has fuel at a better price than you will find in Las Cruces.
Again, good luck. -
I guess I could have been on the 40 eastbound, I did run through a few times earlier in the year. Its hard to remember. I think 10 EB was closed.
I just say beware because I hit every scale in Oregon this week. I believe all 3 or 4 on 84 EB and even the 395 in WA. ws open. lol Which is rare.
I just dont let shippers do that to me. I never go anywhere if Im overgross, unless its local. -
Yes I found out 10E is close thank god. I have prepaid and hoping it gives me the green light in NM just do I don't have to deal with it.
I did some calculations and they loaded me with 51,000# of bleachers and scaffolding !!!! Crazy cuz I didn't even think it was that much stuff. But oh well, it is what it is. Should have stuck to the loa of copper I was originally going to haul lol
