100 gallons in St George, SC about 2 months ago while I was sleeping with the engine idling and the a/c running. Wilco there seems to be happy hunting grounds found out a couple other company drivers and another guy here on the forum have had fuel stolen there as well. Management there didn't really care and even tried to talk me out of calling the cops. Why should they care? Had to refill my tanks from their pumps.

It does not take much to pop the locking caps, a large set of channel locks will do it. I learned, after being unable to unloack mine due to winter road grit jamming in the key slot.
But I think it would be nice to return to the days when they shot horse thiefs...... -
Really messes with your fuel bonus too. It's hard to get anyone to adjust your fuel consumption to allow for a bona-fide theft. It can happen anywhere, and it's the worst of the no-class drivers doing it. Has to be o/o or lease operators. The risk is too high for a company driver to risk getting caught only to get a piddly fuel bonus.

Somebody needs to create a "fuel theft alarm", probably factory installed that looks for rapid fuel level drops while stopped and enters alarm mode when fuel level drops more than an inch inside of 5 minutes. Or some other sort of fuel loss detection methodology.

Rig it like a James Bond car, just don't blow it up while you're in there.

NO, it's also crappy company drivers who sell the fuel out of their tanks and then steal to refill it so it doesn't become conspicuous. If you get caught stealing fuel, you should have you CDL revoked indefinitely. The Challenger, lonelyswmtrucker and gb2nyc Thank this. -
Yeah, I had 100 gal (drivers side tank) siphoned while sleeping at Joseph City, Az. Loves in '08. Funny thing, I woke up to what I thought was an APU running pretty loud and turned over and went back to sleep ! Gawd, I wished I would have looked out my sleeper vent or window and caught those *&$^#%$#. Would have called 911 and broadcast over CB for a hand. Figured it out the next morning, what I thought was a loud APU was really a siphon pump running.
The Challenger Thanks this.
