Hows that? The victim is the one who paid the highway tax already.

Not showing the purchased fuel on the IFTA report.

In this case the fuel is stolen and then not reported, which makes the return a false return.

Happened to me in Nov 2010, at the Petro2 truckstop in Napoleon, OH. Noticed the "lockable" fuel cap laying open on my pass side tank. They got about 60gals - shooting is too good for that kind of low life.

Fuel thieves are the lowest form of thief and should be treated the same as car thieves. If someone tries to talk me out of filing a report it just makes me more determined because I feel they are trying to hide a serious problem and this is not an isolated incident. If they want to compensate me for the loss I might change my mind.

yeah made me kinda feel that way too the way they tried to talk me out of calling the cops to report it....maybe it's just because it happens so much and they don't want the bad publicity or who knows? but being a company driver i had no choice i had to document it but even at that, i would have filed the report anyway.....that one place in particular seems to be bad place for it based on what i've heard from company and another guy on here that got taken for 100 gallons at the same place as well.....i won't ever stop there again that's for sure....they can just be glad i wake up and catch them in the act....

it has to be an o/o or some other trash that found a good place to steal fuel from.....not saying anything bad about the o/o guys i know you guys are 99.9% hardworking honest folk but there was a ratty container hauler with a beat up pos parked beside me when i parked that night and a company guy from another carrier on the other side.......pretty sure it wasn't him he has nothing to gain by it......it may not have been another driver at all but someone with a tank setup on a pickup or in a van......to get that much without being noticed has to have some kind of electric pump setup......and i wasn't even parked on the back row. mnade me alot more observant of who parks around me and where i park that's for sure.....and i also leave my porch light on as well now when i park at night just to have the extra bit of light back there so it's not so easy to hide in the dark

Truckers have been stealing fuel forever. I remember one article in the paper 30 years ago about one driver tried to stop another from stealing his fuel and got the snot beat out of him and the thief got away.

These are the best locking fuel caps made. They just free-spin unless you put the key in to unlock them, so theifs can't use a wrench to break them loose

Video Dash Cam. I leave mine on all the time. With the front mirrors the dash cam no only records what is going on in front of you but also you can see in the mirrors down the sides of your rig. It would have been nice to have the thief on video.
