Not sure why everybody in FL wants to become a truck driver??? I'm guessing the bad economy and lack of jobs must be the main part.
As for local trucking companies, I do not know of any. I'm sure you could get on with a few Over the road companies but you will most likely have to spend a few weeks out before you get back home. Not sure on your situation or your needs.
Best
of luck to you either way. I k ow getting a company to hire from FL is going to take a lot of it.

I think Cypress is a good start and I believe they hire out of your area. You probably won't stay there, but one thing for sure... You will know how to tarp when you leave.
SHC is correct you will have a tough time getting hired south of Jacksonville for flatbed. You are just going to have to do some leg work. Check Craigslist. Good luck

I agree with everyone else. Fl takes a lot of freight in but little comes out. Check with Melton, prime, maverick, or even TMC. I am a DFO with CRST Malone I avoid fl at all cost but did take a load to Miami regretted it though. 400 mile dead to snag a load you might want to look into reefer. They do real good during the summer in fl not sure about the rest of the year. Good luck to ya

Demo is right, Cypress/Sunbelt will teach you to tarp! Also check out Comcar, I think their flat division is called CT.
