    Decker Fort Dodge Iowa updated

I saw a thread by another driver basically documenting his journey with the company he is with and I have decided to do the same with Decker (if I can get hired). So here we go! I have been driving for two years, one with Schneider and one with a hopper bottom company. I am looking to move over to Decker because my brother is employed there and I am able to get the real information that I (and all drivers need) to make a decision on a company. So I am going to be totally honest about what I know to be fact!

I started the process using their online application about three weeks ago. I have not been overly impressed with the process. However, in the interest of full disclosure I am not in a hurry to change jobs, I am currently employed and have the flexibility to take as much time as I need. So, if you are out of work and are in a hurry, I would say fill out the online application and then call the 800 number for your hiring area the next day. I was told yesterday that my signature didn't come through on the electronic app, so I was emailed a form to allow for release of information. Now I am three weeks into this and just now looking at employment history and PSP.

Next update will be Monday when I have to deal with corporate Decker. My recruiter is on vacation for the week.

Just a note: I also applied at Boyd Brothers and they have done everything. They basically sent out letters to all my previous employers and ran all checks they needed and called me yesterday to say, "Congrats, when would you like to come to orientation"? SO, very impressed with Boyd's hiring process, just not completely convinced about the company!

Other Information: I saw a few threads on here about Decker and they seem to be pretty outdated. If you have questions, I would be glad to ask my brother.

How about an update? So, I have finally gotten pre hired by Decker! I leave for Birmingham Al the first week of September. At this point the only thing I have bad to say about the company is the recruiting department. So, if you are looking to work for Decker, here is what I would recommend. First, fill out online application. Two, call recruiting the next day and verify they received your app and that the electronic signature came through. Three, ask the recruiter when you should call back if you don't hear from them! Four, no matter what if they say they will call you and don't, you need to call them.

Sounds like a lot of head right!!! Well my brother was absolutely furious about the recruiting process. Once I complete orientation and load training, I am going to recommend on my survey that Decker re evaluates their recruiters.
