    Oversize Reference Book

As I was shopping one day, I came across this OS book at Iowa80. Now I already have the normal one you can get at most truckstops, but this book is great. I breaks things down to basic info and plainly lists limits before needing permits and escorts and also give travel times and phone numbers. I like it much better than the other one

Yes it does, but this one lays it all out right on 1 page with easy reference. I didn't care for the way the other one was payed out and you had to search thru to find the info.

Ill scan a couple pages and show you how this one looks on the inside.

Cool to use but be careful, the states change all the time due to road conditions and new regulations.

I flipped that book last time at I 80 and it would be handy to have and nothing wrong with it, shame you need a hot link and internet to keep up with Jack Clown regulations anymore.

I feel that there should be a uniform set of rules and regs regarding OS up to certain dimensions and weights...at least on interstates and US Hwy. For example, you should be able to run up to 10-11' wide and 14' high 24/7 with the extremities lit. I also think escort regulations and route surveys should be the same. For width it should be based on lane width. A 20' wide road in OK is the same as one in NC. If 14' wide without escorts is safe in one it should be safe in the other. This is a pipe dream, but it would be great if they all used the same permitting system. I am partial to Ohio's system. You pick route segments on the map, and you can get a permit 24/7. I am not a proponent of increasing the role of the federal government, but this is an instance where commerce is being hindered by a patchwork of state regulations.
