I am only seeing what is in the photos here, and I am sure that there is more than one welder on a project like this in those plants. So with this in mind, many of the other welds could very well be perfect, it is just this affected area that we should focus on that seems to be quite poor. I agree with Wideload on this though, it is not a total loss, with the correct repair methods and materials along with the right guy doing it you will have a good unit again. I know what you are thinking, how could you ever trust it again, but I am pulling one right now I have welded on for several years and it holds up well, steel though. This is my last load today with it though as I purchased a new Reinke today, but I pulled this one for 7 years. Bad timing is all...

It looks like they were just weak welds. Aluminum is not the easiest material to weld. I know someone whose East Dump trailer which is around a year old had a cracked in half right across the frame. He should be getting the replacement shortly. They also improperly/pretty much didnt welded the hitch onto the truck frame and if it wasnt for the pre-trip could have lost the trailer in the middle of traffic and god knows what would have happened.

I'm no welder so i probably need an education but Aluminum is more difficult to weld than steel right,
so wouldn't it be better to have Ali trailers welded by a robot? -
I will hear back from East on Monday.

And have all trucks driven by robots too.
