Due to me being in school during recruiters working hours it's hard for me to call and ask questions... So here I go. I only got one week of school left and I've decided to go flatbed. TMCs website says 23 and McElroy says 24.... These are my top choices for my first company and the problem is I'm only 22... My question is.. Do these companies ever make exceptions? Or is it pretty much set in stone insurance policy? Thanks for taking the time to look.

I'm 21 just got out of school in September. My school director knows one of the head guys at tmc so my director call then guy and said that they are not hiring younger guys right. McElroy wouldn't take my app. So I'm at maverick Transportation right now and love it.

Contact some other flatbed outfits & maybe take a job there & move on to TMC or McElroy after meeting age requirements. Do google searches, Careerbuilder, etc. and contact flatbed companies. Send in online apps and see what happens, since you can't call recruiters during the day. Those age requirements are pretty much set and are there for specific reasons.

If it a mega carrier they will not bend rules. I've asked and try. All has to do with insurance...

Find a small company near home and see if you can get in that way....

Thanks that's pretty much what I figured. I'm down to either Rohl or maverick. Thanks everyone for helping me narrow down the list. Maverick seems perfect for me by the looks of them, and the excellent pay but I'm real Leary of getting spoiled with an automatic. I really wanna get down a standard so I'm not limited in the future....I know this isn't the case for everyone but my brain works differently than most. Id like a Manuel for at least a year so I can get it down pat. So I'll probably go Rohl but man maverick looks like its where it's at.

I'm the same way. But its almost like riding a bike you want forget. Could go back and take a refresher course. But I wish you the best of luck

I think you would be making a big mistake to choose Roehl over Maverick because of automatic transmissions. In most lanes, your pay and home time will both be better at Maverick. I also think you would be more likely to stay at Maverick for a long time. Who knows, you may never leave.

I do know Maverick is more realistic then Roehl when it comes to brokerage rates.......and also it all comes down to where you live and where you want to run
