Thinking about buying a conestoga trailer. Will that help or hurt my mpg and how much weight does it add????

Fuel mileage will depend on if you have something to get the air around the front of it. I have a wing on my truck so I didn't lose any MPG's except in a real strong headwind.

The weight will vary but I have a 7'er and the weight of it is roughly 1400 lbs.

Also depends on the trailer head board, flat heads will grab air and the newer rounded corners look like they would be somewhat more aerodynamic. Add some extra boxes hanging and that would cause more drag as well, tight rag on top will help also.

When I tightened down my tarp on top it was as tight as possible.

I have the Quickdraw and it is always tight. The other day I seen a guy going down the road and his was flopping on the sides and the top was ballooned up. That just drives me nuts!

Someone correct me, but isnt this the reason you see condos pulling these types of of trailers; in reference to post number 2 made by les2??

Then what would explain condos pulling open platforms?

Why don't stogie yankers put skirts down below like a van? I mean they will drive an ugly aero truck so why not sport some ugly skirts too?

I'm tossing around the idea of getting a Fast Track setup when I order my trailer. I've been told that the new style headboards help with wind drag, but if I do get one, I'll be putting a nose cone on it as I have a very low flat-top truck and I'm not putting a wing on it. Figure I might loose .5mpg but I can make up for that with a tarp rate charge. Still debating tho

    Logan76 Thanks this.

Best money besides OS was when hauled steel, just have to be careful who you haul for.
