That is insane. Who would send a driver that had never operated an RGN to pick up a 75K lb excavator?
Passingthru--did the company name begin with W?critters, Leftlane101 and The Challenger Thank this. -

A year ago, I was at that TA in Cartersville,Ga stuck for the weekend. I come up on a 7 axle with an escavator on the wagon. I get out and start talking with the guy.
Six: How tall is your load?
Driver: I am permitted. For 14 feet.
Six: You didn't measure your load? Do you have a height stick?
Driver: No, this truck didn't have one in it.
(Okay guys, I have never been to a place to pick up a piece of equipment, like a dozer, tractor, sprayer, escavator...whatever where there wasn't a height stick among the drivers. In fact JD at the Warren yard in Waterloo have a height stick on site. So the 'this truck didn't have one on it' excuse is lame. So I went back to my truck, got my height stick and measured his load.)
Six: You're 14'11.
Driver: OH SHEET! I gotta get the height down!
14'11. There's a huge difference between 14ft and 14'11. I didn't pay attention to the brand, but my guess is that since he didn't crack an overpass, he had to have come out of Calhoun.critters, The Challenger and mje Thank this. -
mje Thanks this.
