I've got an oversize load I was offered going into california, I have a 51.6 ft trailer with a 45ft kingpin to rear axle. Is this permitable? It's 41.6 to the center of the axle group. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Call the chp they will tell you. Its what you should do anyways. Not that you won't get correct info here.

Nope, CA won't allow KPCA permits. Just as stated, they figure it can go onto a truck with the legal setup instead of yours. Sucks but its what commiefornia does.

I'm going to Santa Ana all through I-10. The load is an 80,000 excavator if it makes any difference so I'd be grossing out at 119,000 pounds, so maybe they'll see they can't put it on a shorter trailer?

I would definitely check on it a bit before I committed to the load. I hauled an OD load out of CA last month and I dropped the load in PA before my CA permit ever showed up.

the atlas says 40 feet kingpin to center of rear axle.

the atlas also has phone numbers for every state.

but i'm guessing you've got some type of heavy haul trailer to haul that muich weight. or maybe not.

i've heard different stories from different folks as to what you can and can't do.

Yep, it's a 3 axle RGN, I just remeasured and it's 51'6" to the rear and 45' kingpin. Is there even a remote possibility to get the permit or no?

Yes you can get a permit. You need the 3rd axle for the weight so the KPRA is out. They will want your axle weights and spacings.
