After having recently been denied 2 tanker jobs due to a latex allergy I have decided that tankers probably aren't the path for me. I currently have been driving OTR for USAT for approximately 4 months. I really want something with a little more home time. All 3 of the above companies are advertising home weekends. The only pay advertised would be BTC which is advertising .48cpm for newbies. I haven't heard back from maverick or BTC. I called TMC and they are in the process of employment verification and awaiting my Dd214. I was hoping maybe some of you former or current employees could give me the scoop on the three. Any feedback is appreciated thanks !

Any of these places are good to get some experience. Go on the interviews and talk to some of these drivers at the truck stops. They will clue you in. TMC has some nice equipment as does maverick. Both of those places will teach you how to secure coils and steel safely. Met a lot of good TMC and Maverick drivers over in Indiana and Chicago. All seemed like decent people so really it all comes down to company culture. Both of these companies will prepare you well for your next driving job but stick with them for at least a year.

BTC is offering the best starting wage. You won't have to put up with the strict "Army like" atmosphere of TMC...and the stinking auto shifts of Maverick. No brainer if you're in the Midwest or Southeast.

OP, I drive for BTC. If you have any questions about the company, just shoot me a PM and I'll do my best to answer them when I get the chance.

    wow I'm on BTC's website....

.50 CPM or 29% and home every weekend option plus they train if you have no flatbed experience.

    effing .48CPM for noobs!

dang I don't think you can get much better than that.

If I ever were to do flatbed that's where I'd go.

I was thinking I'd one day I'd go do LTL, but after seeing BTC's package I might wanna be more than a steering wheel holder lol

Be careful. Many people have been fooled by higher cents per mile.

Percentage pay is the only way anyone should do open deck work.

I don't, but we do have a fair number of drivers out of that region.
I agree, except when you operate in an area where you may bounce a day between loads. Since I generally work a five day week, I prefer to make money every day I'm out.

That said, I did run for percentage (I'm currently a local driver for BTC in Pittsburgh working for hourly) and made pretty good money. But again, and I cannot stress this enough, I live close to Pittsburgh. Its a great area for flatbedding, with plenty of freight to get me out and back.
