I got talked junk to by a tql broker. Unloaded in houston and getting antsy to book before the end of the day, i knew better , i knew better, i knew better than to call those idiots at tql. I have never hauled the first load for them, pathetically cheap. But i did today, houston to i think atlanta or somewhere 950 or 980 on the miles.
He says its pipe and has to be tarped minium 4 foot drop, but when i asked about the rate he said 1650. I said what and you want it tarped too. He starts babbling about how im protecting my insurance and complaining about tarping is like me complaining about me having to put tires on my truck and in a sarcastic voice said it s part of my job.
I told him when i tie up to 2 hours putting the tarps on and 2 hours untarping how it adds up. He made another smart remark and i told him , you come out here and do it big boy.
He said if you dont like your job you need to quit
i got nice f@#* you in before he hung up
so mr broker if you read this please , get up with me so we can discuss this in person and clear the air

how are these idiots in business and who takes these rates?

because all of those foreign nationals need freight to pull at 90 CPM in their 95 freightshaker that they brought across the border with them.

I had one get me good a few weeks back I already ran the miles and had a number before I even called he starts going on about the load 4ft tarps blaw blaw blaw I ask what is it? He said pallets.....I said pallets of what? He says it shouldn't matter all you need is 4ft tarps......

I stopped him and said yes it does matter machinery gets a different price than aluminum sheets scrap gets a different price....some loads take padding others don't if there's a risk I'm going to put holes in my tarps your going to pay!

so I give him my rate $2,800 he says no cant go that we get these moved for $1,800 all the time....I said thank you sir you have a good day....he says I can come up to $2,200 if you can pick it up today.....again I said best price I can go is the $2,800 I told you.....than says $2,500 I passed on that offer also and tell him ok have a good day and as I'm hanging up the phone he says $2,600 and says that's me coming up $800 and you coming down $200 I wish I could go $2,800 but I just can't.

I ended up taking that load but man that guy was good!!

western express, i talked to one of their drivers not too long ago. he said anybody that drives for them is a criminal, including me. he also said the first 5 days he had ever been in a tractor trailer, he was pullin a load through the wyoming mountains . he was hilarious telling the story, besides the fact he was in the mountains that green was not funny

I used to cry, whine and point fingers at rates and blame other drivers for my failure. I had an aquaintance that became a good friend of mine and said, if youre not getting the rates your wanting or needing , stop blaming and caring what other people do. Look at yourself and make the needed changes or get out the business and dont poop where you eat. Great advise I got.

    What a whiner.... lol

I got my license and the first day I hauled a 10' wide load. Second say I hauled a Volvo A350 dump truck. Within a month I was pulling a stretched flatbed 70' long. Oh and I was on my own from day one, no trainer but I had pulled a 44' gooseneck so the length did not matter much.

Yeah it was scary but you just gotta do it.

Mountains in Wyoming? Piece of cake.

It's easy to blame those hauling cheaper than you. But if everyone charged your rates or higher then who would you be ? think about it.

TQL is such a joke, doesn't matter what it is, where it's coming from, or where it's going. Basically, they're pretty sure they have a load and that's about it. lol. Just politely remind them it's their job to represent the shipper to the carrier, and the carrier to the shipper. If they can't tell you exactly what the load is and where it's picking up and going they are not representing the shipper to you. And if they want to decide my rates for me they are not representing me to the shipper. Exactly what is their job again ?

Some people on here are so ignorant, Foreign nationals don't have nothing to do with it, yet talking will be a waist of time. TQL eventually will run out of luck.
