tried to register with them but they are requiring 1mil gen liability besides the reg coverages, i ask and was told its to help protect them and carrier has to have it to register now- Tried to register with tql and sent carrier packet in 2 wks ago, never heard from them so i emailed to ask about it, they said we never rec it so sent again, then was told untill a agent request it be setup it will stay in limbo and be setup at that point, may be due to a new mc number not sure, anyone else seen this?

Most all of us have auto liability. A few who don't have a clue are requiring general liability. General liability means you have a terminal. Doesn't make sense. They will find out quick when their current approved drivers update their insurance they will be gone.

    That is not true.

Ever let an overhead crane operator on your trailer? DOT officer ever climb on your step? Ever seen a forklift go through a trailer floor?

Any smart business owner would never risk their lively hood for a few hundred a year. Auto liability only covers damages that occurred while in the act of driving.

Their workers comp or shippers insurance should take care of any issues you mentioned.

Coyote is in the minority when it comes to general liability. I think they are the only broker that has told me that they required general liability. Actually, there was one other company that I believe required it at one time. They must have had problems signing people up so they dropped the requirement. I have not see rates sufficiently high enough from Coyote to justify me spending hundreds of dollars on insurance to protect them. They should be able to afford their own insurance. Don't bother with them. There are plenty of brokers and shippers who can afford to pay their own insurance premiums and don't require carriers to have $1 million of general liability insurance. I did tell them that I would be glad to add the insurance if they wanted to pay the premium. They didn't seem to appreciate my comment.
