They offered some "home every weekend, possibly a day or two in the middle of the week" hauling Sheetrock gig. I took it so I can at least get my feet back under me. Or wheels, whatever you wanna say. I'm still looking into everything, I just spent A LOT of money on getting my house set up and all that, and I was super bored. So I went back. Their "specialized" division is pretty much stopped cause Deere has 3 or 4 plants on month long shut downs right now, so yeah. still trying to figure out what to do, where to go. All that good stuff.

Des Moines is in shut down, so is Moline i believe? I think they open back up next week or the week after. They do it every year.

I should have worded that different. They're in a month long shut down for upgrades and such. I think seeder was having issues with paint.

Harvester in East Moline just laid off 600 workers, and I think seeding in Moline is next. Davenport works is doing good

I wouldn't make a move til spring if I was you. But yah, Mnpls is an undervalued market. Lots of manufacturers in that area. Hell, holler at me in the spring. I would never add a guy going into winter when things are uncertain but Feb or March maybe. And I don't do anything if it doesn't pay good for me and people working for me.

Yea plant model year shut downs happen every year. I guess I kinda misread the posts thinking they shut down as for good..

I reworded it passingthru. You read it right, I worded it wrong.

This tarp crap in the winter sucks. I was going to go to mercer when I got a rig, asked just do a weekly home gig. Now in boy too sure. I love flat bedding, but I could haul gravel too... But it's mostly seasonal. Van work is just.. Boring as hell to me.

passingthru69, tsavory and 281ric Thank this.

Well, in trucking boring is good. Those van drivers probably make more than you will at your current gig with a lot less risk of getting hurt.
