Got a buddy who has been told he must post the TRUCKS plate on the donkey when carrying it, then move it to the truck when he doesnt have it with? Anyone know the regs?

I haul a donkey, been stopped for inspection several times. No one has mentioned it to me, so far.On several trailers we have welded a raised bracket for the plate on the back of the trailer so it can be seen if the donkey is on the trailer. However, we just bought a brand new Moffett 5500 last week, and I see it has a license plate bracket on it. Never noticed that before.
As usual, I would imagine it would depend on the mood of the officer who stops you.

Yeah the boss man said dot qouted some 1936 law or something, so now hes got a bracket and light on the moffet and uses two twist screws to move it back and forth when needed. Theres no where to mount it on the truck that would be visable with it there.
