time to buy new. my accountant says it will be more profitable. question??? What would you guys suggest? I've driven just about all of them and I don't have any specific loyalties. I guess I'd have to rate my priorities with my age. 1) Price. 2) Warranty. 3) Comfort. 4) Exterior classic good looks. 5) Options......I am a long hauler flat bed driver so it has to have a 465 or better, Cummings of course and 13 speed, 19k empty weight and 240 inch wheel base or better...... what is the best truck to own, operate and live with?
hey flat bedders....buy a new truck recently?

after getting out of a new KW700
fighting over every warranty item
there idea of warranty is deny until you give up
I took a company driver job driving a midroof cascadia with DD15 and 13 speed
yes a lil shorter wheelbase but I was impressed with the extended warranty even on the road
the dealer looks for warranty first rather then looking to screw you out of it
my boss trades every 3 years and we are converting to the mercedes 12 speed autoshift
impressive technology all the old complaints of autos isn't found here
they are getting better mpg then any of the 13 speeds
even running 75 mph trucks the truck with 150000 miles is getting 7 mpg since new
this is running WI to the west coast
just my $.02dogcatcher Thanks this. -
I would get a new accountant does he know how unreliable the newer trucks are. Plus if your current truck is in good shape as in drivetrain and mpg why not keep it and put money into it rather then put money into too some corporate companies bank account. Or you must like sitting a repair shops for no pay even when they cover repairs. Second thought go ahead that way more of you will be in shop and I can demand more money because my nonegr truck will still be rolling down the road yet.
Boardhauler, stacks and rank Thank this. -
Make sure it has a headache rack.

I am in the process of buying one now. Loan is approved and they have my deposit. I am going to put a driver in it and keep driving my old Pete, a 99 379. I decided to go with a Fitzgerald Glider kit. I ordered a Columbia and hope to get another one in June. A little cheaper than a new truck and you don't have to pay FET. I like the old Detroit series 60 and think it will be reliable and good on fuel. Warranty is as good as you get anywhere else. Truck should be here the end of this month or first week in March. Would like to order a 389 for myself but that will come later. My old Pete is still getting it done and is just too reliable to get out of right now. Plus it is doing great on fuel.

My 2 cents. There is absolutely no way I would buy another SCR truck. At least until they get it all figured out. -
I didnt buy it, but just got a new Cascadia. It is a lot heavier than the Volvo i was in. If you need a truck thatll pull 48,000+ on the deck, that wont be your option.

It depends on how your Cascadia is spec'ed. Maverick has a whole fleet of midroofs with auto shifts and dd13 (a few 15's). 2 80 gallon tanks with aluminum trailer they all can scale 50,000 plus. I'm in a condo cascadia with a cummins and a 13 and can only scale 43,500. I have a steel 53 foot flat with a rolltite tarp system. Its all in how your stuff is spec'ed.
