Attached is a picture of my trailer. When I first hooked up my headache rack the bolts were too high before I got to a shop and filed it down... The result, I think I bumped my trailer a little. The light still works.

there is a slight bend, no crossmembers are effected. I'm just all concerned about it now,
i see in the FMCSA handbook subpartJ *393.201Frames (c) the frame rail flanges between the axles shall not be bent, cut, or notched, except as specified by the manufacturer.

But that is for the truck, no where in the handbook does it say anything about a ding in the trailer frame...

What do y'all think? And how would I fix it to get it looking normal if I need to? Heat it up and bend it back into place?

    Thanks in advance...

That's not a structural member, so no worries. You should see what's being dragged around in NJ and NY...

Did you put your U bolts for headache rack on upside down? The nuts should be on the bottom. Either way that part of your trailer is NOT frame rail flanges, the flanges are the top and bottoms of the I beams that run the full length of trailer, so your good to go

don't think the bolts caused that , it was probably the bottom rail of the headache rack, tight turn going out a driveway, down an incline. you don't have a lot of clearance between headache rack and trailer. seems like I must have been there, huh??

Heck we have a trailer that looks like it is making a u-turn. It was literally hit by a train. Use it locally as a drop and hook for a particular customer. That way we do not have to wait around to get it unloaded.

Well! I think you got your answer, there's nothing to worry about, I've seen much much worse trailer on the roads than that little ding, get a passing grade from a DOT inspection
