Just heard this today. I see 53' vans run through there. Is there something I'm missing or is it a law that isn't enforced? Right now I'm sitting around 68' and I was told legal was 65'. Any help is appreciated.

As far as I know you are ok on the Interstate, EXCEPT you can NOT cross the bridge thru Providence, take the loop around, at least that is how it was last time I was up there.

Where in R.I do you need to go?

I never had a problem and used to run up there a lot. There used to be signs when they were working on the bridge in providence trucks had to go around but once the signs came down I went back to running straight thru. Never had an issue. Gps always used to give a weight restriction at that bridge and try to route me off the exit and back on the on ramp though. Always a lot of trucks running straight thru all the way.

i don't have a current atlas mine is a couple years old but it does say in the front permit required for 53 so I'm guessing it's just not enforced.

The 95 bridge thru Providence (Pawtucket) is open to trucks. They did construction on it a few years ago and were bagging trucks every day. As for 53' trailer I see them every day running on 95.

I get cited about once every 18 months off the national network in New York, just made my "donation" to NY this Thursday for having a 53' high mount car carrier with front overhang, plus my rig was 69 foot total length, but he only cited me for the over hang, the fine is higher that way. NY Vehicle and Traffic Law section 385.3(B)

My friend Dimitri pulls cars out of the Newburgh auction, he was using (may still be I havent asked) a 53' ramp with extendable ramps front and rear. Was telling me it's a pretty frequent ticket when the ramps are extended just after you pull out of the auction yard.

    A. "High mount" - is that like a 7 unit trailer that hooks to a normal height fifth wheel on a standard tractor vs a low fifth wheel with room for. 2/3 more? Idk much about what any of those pieces of equipment are called....

Ruthless, Yes you understand what a high mount is. They are simple to load for short runs but can be trouble to stay within legal dimensions. Who does Dimetri pull for, what is the name of his company, I am in Newburgh almost every day, my latest ticket for over length was on the Mid Hudson Bridge coming out of Poughkeepsie.
