Personal dispatch services

So at $2.25 all miles on a flatbed what are you going to charge for this service?

$2.25 was on loaded but with the dead head it was less of course. The pricing is what I am trying to get a feel for. I do not want to do a % base. With us running our own flats and working in a lot of the other parts of the business as well I really feel that the 8%-12% cuts that I have seen some want is a bit much(I do not want to put potential customers in a bind). That is now how to build a good relationship. Not saying our time is not worth an amount. At this point I have developed some great relationships with brokers,traders,as well as shippers and can get drivers access to a lot of freight. My main issue is this. I want to come up with a flat fee for each item we offer. If it is only for one load or all of a customers loads or even the billing, fuel tax etc. I would like to try and develop a price matrix. I would even like to offer the service with no contract.

If on a load by load basis I would charge a 10% fee up to a max of $65. If booking for a regular carrier I know of other dispatch services charging a $500 base fee for one truck and increases for each additional truck.

$$$500 is crazy i would never pay that i have trucks that only do two runs a week long haul

I am thinking $200 a week for a steady customer(dispatching,billing,and 24 hour access for breakdown help). A few of our guys are former owner operators and think its a great price (though they could just be blowing smoke and that is part of why I am here). We are not looking for this as a way to start a whole new company but a way to make a little extra. We do heavy/light towing, full shop, as well as transport. So this would be a little something extra not a means of a whole new business.

Was in a hurry guess I should have specified it was $500 a month.

That was just for the dispatch service.

I had a truck in Houston,Tx last week stepdeck I must had called on 40 loads and took 0 $1.65 with one pick and 5 drops on a 500 mile run won't work for me I even seen some local runs on there I was thinking hell he could do that until a good one comes up them loads paid $40 a load and they said "it's only going five miles down the road" what a joke
I have over 5 load boards that I have up all day some days I have to move cheaper freight than I would like too but it cost too be parked also
I use to drive book loads and invoice and the guys that do this now know it takes all day to drop the load first thing invoice that load put it in the mail find your next load get set up than go load within that 8 hour window is hard than drive all night just to do it all over again
Now I have a driver in my truck and I do all the BS but truck makes $2,000+ more a week than when I drove some weeks more so I make money driver makes money and I'm home with the kids

can you use a dispatch service for yourself when you are leased to another company? My husband is leased to someone else but can only make enough to cover his expenses. Just wondering if there's any dispatch service you would recommend...

Read the contract your husband signed. Most companies require "EXCLUSIVE USE" of the owner operators equipment.
